Updated: Feb 11

UV Resin Heart Pendant Necklace

Have you always wanted to make jewellery but unsure of where to start and what you need to get started? Well, this blog should hopefully help!

Below I'll list some of the key tools to create something simply cute like pictured here.

To note, this is for those who wish to use UV Resin.

The Basics

To get yourself started, you'll need the following tools and equipment as a bare minimum:

  • UV Resin

  • UV Lamp

  • Resin Tape

  • Sequins/Glitter

  • Pre-Made Pendant

  • Silicone Brush Tool

  • Jump Ring

  • Pre-Made Necklace Cord

Ideally, you'll also need the following. These are not essential if you just wish to trial how you get on however, they will aid a better finish or ease of use:

  • Heat Gun

  • Silicone Mat

How much will it cost me?

All in all, you can likely expect to invest around about £90 for the bare essentials. To note however, these will see you through multiple creations. The additional ideal purchases will likely set you back another £30 approximately.

This brings you to an approximate spend of around £120.

Where can I find these tools?

You can find these tools in SO many places however, for ease you can simply find these on Amazon.

As you grow and evolve your work, you might become a bit more fussy about what you're buying. This could be with items such as the pendants or necklace cords where you might want to research more on metal compositions for example but this will come with time and experience.

Is there anything else I need to consider?

There are other financial elements to jewellery making that you may want to consider dependent upon what your goal is. If you wish to sell your items for example, please do make sure you source the relevant insurance to cover yourself. This means that in the unlikely event somebody who purchases your jewellery has an allergic reaction to any of the materials used, you will be covered if things were to get a bit sour...

If you wish to attend events to sell your items, this will also of course come at a cost however, we will cover this in another blog.

Hopefully you find this helpful. If you have any questions, please do post them in the comments section on this blog and we'll try and help wherever possible! Please be aware, you will need an account in order to do this (it stops the spammers). Otherwise, Good Luck in your new venture!
